A Week At The Beach

Jason is trying to bring up his prize winning King Mackerel here!

Here is Kirk reeling in a big one!

It's been a long time since my last post, but there hasn't been much to talk about until now. Jason's parents came in for a visit! We had so much fun. They flew in on Friday night really late. Saturday Jason and Kirk went to the Dixie Gun Show while Carrie and I shopped at the outlet mall in Smithfield. We went out to eat with my parents and little sister that night to Red, Hot, and Blue. That was some good eatin. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday we all spent time togther and relaxed. THEN Tuesday evening we left for a vacation at Emerald Isle. We stayed in a really nice condo right on the beach. It was so relaxing and we did lots of things I had never done down at the beach before. Wednesday we started out by going Deep Sea fishing. It was a little rough so we didn't go too far out. I caught mostly sharks, but Jason and Kirk caught our dinner! They fought some great King Mackerel and we fried those up for dinner. They were really tasty! We finshed off the week with lots of beach time, a Ghost Tour of Beaufort, shopping in Swansboro, and tons of good things to eat. It was great to spend time with family!

Jason's prize was $5 for catching the largest fish.

Our catches of the day..they let me hold one of their fish since I only caught throw backs!

We celebrated Jason's 25th Birthday while we were at the beach!

Salt Water Fishing

I've never seen anyone so intense!

By this point I thought my arms would fall off if I cast my line out one more time!

A Perfect Saturday!
Jason and I drove down to Emerald Isle on Saturday. We thought it would be nice and relaxing to sit and fish all day. We slept in by accident, then it took us forever to get all our equipment set up and a good place to fish. I thought we were never going to get a chance to fish, but finally we settled on a little fishing spot in Swansboro. It was quiet and peaceful, but our lines were constantly getting caught on something and breaking. A local newspaper photographer snapped our picture while we were fishing and took our names to feature us in an article for Sunday (I'm trying to get a copy so I can share it with everyone). We finally got fed up with trying to fight whatever was stealing our lines and moved to the Bogue Inlet Pier. We still didn't catch a ton of fish but we didn't have anymore snaggs! Jason caught the largest fish we had seen anyone else catch on the pier, but it broke the line before he could get it up. It was fun and the weather was beautiful!

Fishing

The lake was is so low right now with the drought,
but the fish are still biting!

I just caught a little guy!

Jason and I have decided we need a hobby together, so we are taking up fishing. We did a little on the coast during our family beach trip in June but we are trying to find more time to go around here. We tried out Falls Lake on Saturday, it's only about 25 minutes from our house. For beginners we didn't do half bad! We didn't catch anything worth keeping, but we're saving that for the next trip (why have all the fun with the first try)! It was a perfect day for fishing, not too hot and a little overcast. We are hoping to try some new techniques out this coming Saturday!

Summer Fun

Ellie told Jason "cheeks" over and over for a good
zurbert!

My older sister, her husband, and their two kids came to visit for a little bit. I wish they lived closer, but it was great to have them while we could! We are always trying to cram everything in when they come. We had a princess party for Ellie's upcoming birthday, family pictures taken, time at the pool, catching up with all the family, and making Ammon's blessing outfit. We had so much fun, Ellie really likes Jason and was constantly following him around asking what he was doing and where he was going. Poor little Ammon would be so quiet we almost forgot he was there a couple of times. He is such a happy baby. It was great to spend time with everyone I think Art and Jason have become great buds, they have a lot to talk about dealing with us Deaver girls (that is Burns and Jones girls now!). Things are great here...but we miss Ena, Art, Ellie, and Ammon! Back to school and work for now! More family in August though, we can't wait!

July Fourth

For the Fourth of July this year we were invited to eat dinner with my Uncle Chris. My Uncle is great on the grill. We stuffed our faces and then continued on our third year of attending July 4th fireworks together. I have been out to the Mudcats baseball games many times on the 4th of July so we headed out there. People were lined up east and west bound on the highway. It's the redneck way to view fireworks; pull your truck off the highway and everyone sits in lawn chairs in the bed of the truck waiting for the show. We were driving my little car so the couple in their truck next to us offered to share their tailgate. Luckily they forgot to fill up their cooler! It was a great display of fireworks and a very relaxing day! Happy late Independence Day everyone!

We've made it 6 Months!!

We just recently celebrated our six month anniversary. We are doing great! We are loving our little duplex, Jason accidentally tested the safety of our community by leaving our side door wide open for an entire day. I don't think anyone even noticed! Jason is currently serving in the Young Men's presidency as the second couselor and Scout Master. He is great with the boys! I work with the 8-11 year old girls in the Faith in God program. They are so full of energy, it's fun!

I'm sure everyone heard Jason broke his foot, after about two months of lugging his heavy boot around and working hard, he might actually get it off for good in a few more weeks. He has been amazingly patient with the boot! I am still going to school and working, I am looking forward to graduation day!!!

I just thought everyone would like an update of the Jones family...we are not all that exciting!
